how did you remove the larger pieces of glass? did they come off in one big piece, or did you need to break the big piece into smaller pieces?

The Big pieces WILL be small pieces when you work with it. It cracks all the time into smaller pieces...

good because my iphone has about 5 large peices that take up about 90% of the cracked screen so its good to know i dont gotta worry about have ing to wedge the knife underneath the ENTIRE peice

did you try using the touch screen when the glass and glue were removed? when i tried, the touch screen did not respond as it normally does. perhaps it is calibrated to respond appropriately with the other layer of glass?

Is the touch screen suppose to work without the cover glass? When I took the glass and glue off i tried to touch screen. It did not respond like it normally does. Perhaps the cover glass is needed for the touch screen to work properly?

Yes.. the LCD doesn't work without anything between your fingers and LCD, why?! I have no idea. but so it is ;)

How did you remove the glue from the lcd-screen? Did you scratch the lcd-screen when you were uesing the knife to remove the glass?

Hey I am recieving my glass soon and will try this out hopefully I do it without breaking my phone. I took some peices off of the screen already and it seems easy enough. I'll try to post a video if I can.

Igor - A knife will work, but i used a q-tip. (the cotton on a stick tool that i use to clean my ears). i cut off most of the cotton fluff on the ends and scrapped the glue with the end of the q-tip. i was afraid i would make too much damage with the knife.

So Michael you did this entire process also with success?

So i get the ebay kit for 13 usd, y just ply the glass with the nife? and then clean out the glue and then glue back the black areas of new glass and im done?

DAAAMMM i got the glass yestarday today i follow ur video instruccion, everything was soooo cool but then it was left a small pice of cristal still on the phone and when i try to remove it i fucked up the diditizer damm im so frusted rigth now :/

Hi Guys! I've just get off my broken glass from my iPhone 2G. First i decide to get off my broken glass - i think everything is ok! There is no any damages - i was pick up small pieces of glass . It was yesterday . Today I cleaned the screen from the glue with "motobike brake cleaner" and small ear-stick , and get on something like polish eBay (allegro.pl) the iPhone glass for 35 PLN (12$) .It gonna be in my postbox tommorow - we will se is it going to work. The touch pad doesnt work good without glass guys - its ok ?

I got the glass off and the glue, i was just double checking that the touchpanel works and it did, but it was acting kind of funny. Will it register again when i put the new glass on.

Do I have to take the entire phone apart after glass is scraped off or do I just insert the new screen into place? If that's all you do, then what are the steps?

I have followed your instructions, I have removed the window without scratching anything and now I am waiting for the replacement window to come by post.

I have the following questions:

- On the lower and upper part of the phone there is still remaining glue, how can I clear this? I have tried with some alcohol but it is not enough. Do you remove this genneraly?

- The big lower button does not work (the touchscreen works) what the hell did I did?

- I will stich the glass with superglue, people say that dust will go under the window. How can I prevent this?

Removed glass now touch screen doesnt work at all.

I have tried to follow this video, however didn't realize there was another layer of glass under the smashed layer. I have removed the top layer, but also damaged the 2nd layer (not the LCD, the LCD still works fine) but the touchscreen isn't working.

What am I to do? There is a ribbon at the top attaching it to the top of the phone.
